Innovating and transforming since 1943
With a rich history since 1943, many of our clients have witnessed our transition and developments over many decades. As pioneer in electric motor specialist and electrical engineering, we began as simple startup during world war 2. Today, almost 80 years later, the 6-man business that initially started out in a small shophouse in Bencoolen Street in Singapore has established itself now as a regional group that hundreds of companies depend on, for its reliability, innovativeness and sustainable practices. Tan Ai Meng Establishes Cycle and Electric to provide basic technical services in Bencoolen Street.

1952
Cycle and Electric starts ship equipment repair services and secured first major project win UK Royal Navy.

1958
Expanded to Kung Chong Road factory.

1965
Was appointed by ASEA (merged with ABB) as the first regional agent to provide services and support for ASEA's products

1973
Expanded to 100,000 sqft factory at Liu Fang Road to serve the marine and industrial manufacturing sectors.

With the growth of the manufacturing sector in Singapore, Cyclect started its Electrical Projects department. We started our services for the Public Utilities Board, Ministry of Environment, SMRT and Public Works Department.

Entered in Joint Venture with leading Japanese engineering firm KK Kiuchi Keisoku to start our Instrumentation services.

Started Mechanical services department.

1980
Cyclect started operations in Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei, Japan, and China.

1985
The next generation of the Tan family, Mr. Tan Sin Poh, Mr. Peter Tan, and Mr. Shenton Ho takes over reins of Cyclect.

1986
Cyclect join ventures with COSCO Shipping to provide ship repair and engineering services for its shipyard in Shanghai.

1990
With the growth of the semiconductor manufacturing sector in Singapore, Cyclect started dedicated project teams to serve the industry.

1999
Cyclect upgrades it facilities, and relocates to the Tuas Industrial area at its present headquarters. Concurrently, Aeco Plant Engineering starts operations providing valuable process control technologies to manufacturers.

Cyclect obtains ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system by BVQI.

2004
Cyclect awarded the Innovator Award by Singapore's Prime Minister's Office, Public Service department for its delivery of innovative project to the Singapore Civil Defence Force for its Chemical Mobile Scrubber Project.

Cyclect started PT Batam Cyclect to provide technical and engineering services to the industrial and marine sectors to support the growth of Batam.

2006
Generation 3 of the Tan family, led by Melvin Tan, Marcus Tan, Ee Wei take the reins of Cyclect

Cyclect's Specialist Show and Ride division secures the Universal Studios ride installation project and goes on to deliver major rides like Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, Canopy Flyer, Puss In Boots, Lights! Camera! Action!

Cyclect's Event Projects team secures the inaugural Singtel Formula 1 electrical works project.

Cyclect's Built-Environment Projects team secures the prestigious Marina Bay Sands project.

Cyclect acquires Chemicrete Enterprise Pte Ltd. A chemical adhesive and facilities management company.

Secured Public Utilities Board Lower Seletar Waterworks Project processing 60 million gallons of raw water per day.

Cyclect wins the contract for electrical works at the iconic 35-hectare integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub, Singapore Sports Hub project.

Cyclect won top position in ASEAN Business Awards for our Innovations in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. The awards recognise outstanding and successful ASEAN companies contributing to ASEAN’s economic growth and prosperity and was presented to our Managing Director by the then president of Myanmar, His excellency, Thein Sein.

Cyclect has installed 2MW of REC solar modules on ASIA Pacific Breweries (APB) Singapore, brewer of Tiger beer on its factory rooftop, making all Tiger beer consumed in Singapore "brewed by the sun".
