Cyclect Group, a leading regional power and engineering company specializing in full-value chain solutions for green data centres, is pleased to announce its partnership with TSG Group in the launch of FutureData Sdn Bhd, a Sarawak-Singapore consortium dedicated to developing a groundbreaking 200MW Green Data Centre.

The consortium’s official launch took place on 22 June 2023 at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak. The momentous event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Premier of Sarawak, Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Abang Haji Openg, emphasizing the importance and potential impact of this initiative.

FutureData Sdn Bhd brings together the expertise and resources of Cyclect Group and TSG Group. Cyclect Group, with over 8 decades of experience in sustainable engineering and maintenance solutions, will play a pivotal role in implementing cutting-edge technologies for green data centers. TSG Group, a diversified conglomerate in Sarawak, has transformative businesses in infrastructure, sustainable plantations, and real estate.

The consortium’s primary objective is to establish the largest renewable energy-powered data centre park, with a capacity of 200MW, in Kota Samarahan. This visionary project will be integrated into the FutureGreen District, a dynamic township that emphasizes mixed developments powered by sustainable infrastructure.

Melvin Tan, Managing Director of Cyclect Group, highlighted Sarawak’s exceptional attributes as an ideal location for data center development. “The data reveals that Sarawak possesses a unique combination of attributes that make it an exceptional location for data centre development. The abundance of renewable power sources in Sarawak, including hydroelectric power, provides a sustainable energy supply to fuel data centre operations,” stated Tan.

Dato Chris Chung, Group CEO of TSG Group, shared their commitment to realizing the Premier’s vision of a digital and sustainable economy. He expressed, “TSG seeks to do our part to meet our Premier’s vision towards a digital and sustainable economy. This data centre will be developed in a new integrated green district called FutureGreen District, where healthcare, education, and high-end residential areas will cater to overseas individuals seeking a second home in Kuching. This district embodies green living by implementing a circular economy and producing green energy from each household that can contribute to the grid. It will be a true manifestation of Sarawakian green lifestyle.”

The official launch of FutureData Sdn Bhd occurred during the gala dinner of the Shape the World Summit 2023. This esteemed regional event, with the theme of Future Resilience by Sustainability, welcomed 300 delegates from the region and Sarawak, fostering collaboration and inspiring action towards a sustainable future.
