Organic Rankine Cycle Power Generation Unit Earns US Patent for Cyclect

Cyclect receives US Patent for their invention of an oil-free Organic Rankine Cycle power generation unit, significantly increasing efficiency.
Granted Organic Rankine Cycle System Patent

Cyclect Electrical Engineering Pte. Ltd., a leading provider of engineering and maintenance solutions, is proud to announce that it has received a US Patent for the invention of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generation unit. The unit, invented by Dr. Yanagi, is a lubricant-free system that offers a significant increase in efficiency compared to traditional lubricated ORC systems.

The Organic Rankine Cycle system works by converting low-temperature heat into electricity, making it a sustainable and versatile power generation option. The unit’s ability to use low-temperature energy as low as 60 degrees Celsius to generate electricity sets it apart from traditional lubricated Organic Rankine Cycle systems and offers significant energy savings. The patent, which was issued on April 14, 2015, was assigned Patent No. 9,003,798.

“We are thrilled to receive this patent and to be able to offer our customers a new, more efficient power generation option,” said Tan Ee Wei, Executive Director of Cyclect. “This is a testament to our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the engineering industry.”

Cyclect Electrical Engineering’s innovative Organic Rankine Cycle power generation unit will play a crucial role in helping organizations transition to a more sustainable future. The unit’s ability to use low-temperature heat sources will make it a valuable addition to the power generation mix and help reduce the reliance on fossil fuels.

“We believe that this technology will have a significant impact on the energy industry,” said Tan Ee Wei. “By offering a more efficient and sustainable power generation option, we hope to make a positive impact on the environment and help our customers reduce their energy costs.”

The patent receipt is a significant milestone for Cyclect Electrical Engineering and reinforces their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the engineering industry. The company will continue to develop and bring new, cutting-edge technologies to the market, helping to shape the future of energy production.

What is Organic Rankine Cycle

Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is a thermodynamic process that is used to convert low-temperature heat into electrical energy. The ORC process operates on the same basic principles as a conventional Rankine cycle, but uses an organic fluid instead of water as the working fluid. The organic fluid is chosen for its ability to vaporize at lower temperatures than water, making it ideal for use in waste heat recovery systems, solar thermal power plants, and geothermal power plants.

The ORC system consists of a heat exchanger, an evaporator, a turbine, a generator, and a condenser. The heat exchanger transfers heat from a heat source, such as hot water or steam, to the organic fluid, causing it to vaporize. The vaporized organic fluid then drives a turbine, which in turn drives a generator to produce electricity. The spent organic fluid is condensed back into a liquid by a condenser and returned to the evaporator to start the cycle again.

One of the key benefits of the ORC system is its efficiency. The ORC process can generate electricity from low-temperature heat sources that would be otherwise wasted. In addition, the ORC process is relatively simple, with fewer components than traditional power generation systems, making it a reliable and cost-effective option for power generation.

The ORC process has numerous applications in various industries. For example, it can be used in waste heat recovery systems in industrial processes, such as in steel manufacturing, to capture waste heat and convert it into electrical energy. Additionally, it can be used in geothermal power plants to generate electricity from geothermal heat sources.

In conclusion, the ORC process offers a sustainable and efficient option for power generation, and its use is growing in various industries as a way to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
