Singapore-based engineering solutions provider, Cyclect Group, and Changi Airport Group have been recognized for their innovation and commitment to safety with the Innovator Award from the Prime Minister’s Office, Public Service Division. The award was granted in recognition of the development and successful deployment of the Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Intelligent Detection and Alarm System (FIDAS).
FIDAS was created in response to the need to protect runways from FOD, a concern brought to the forefront by the tragic Concorde crash in France. The system, developed in partnership with Changi Airport Group, uses a series of advanced sensors and intelligent algorithms to detect even the smallest FOD on runways as road sweepers operate at speeds of up to 40 km/h.
The project was a resounding success, and the team was honored to receive the Enterprise Challenge (TEC) Award. The TEC is a government initiative aimed at promoting innovation within the Public Service sector and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and exploration.
